Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a mixed race British-Nigerian child was born into a family in South London. She has a mother who is English and her father Nigerian. She grew on a south London council estate and when she was 14she enrolled in The Brit School. She earned her BA in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While attending the academy, she appeared in a number of performances on stage, such as The King Henry V playing Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe began her acting career through the film Storm Damage. Since then, she's made guest appearances on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), with Colin Farrell. After this success, Madekwe appeared as Elisha on her role on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured in six episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi character on ITV2 Drama Series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was in two series, 2 and 3. Madekwe was also a part of the comedy of 2008 How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Some of her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) as well as Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport on the ABC show The Beautiful Life. The two-episode show aired only for 2 weeks at The CW and then it came to an end. In February of 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe's exit from the series was officially announced in May of 2013. After a period of two years as the main character she was a guest in the opening episode of season three. She starred as Tituba in the television series Salem between 2014 and the year 2016. Madekwe, along with her boyfriend of many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were wed in June of 2012. The two have collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he is also a part of the cast on the TV show Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress that was nominated two times for the Gemini Award, is a member of an extensive Hamilton family. Her family included the parents Roy and Patty along with four older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley grew in arenas or baseball fields because her brothers, who were all athletic, were hockey players, baseball players, as well as both during winter and summer. Ashley never actually walked -she was a dancer, and at the age of two and a half she took up Baby Ballet -and she fell in love with. It was then that she discovered Ashley's love for dancing. Until she graduated from High School, Ashley danced competitively in the top divisions in tap, jazz, ballet pointe, acrobatics musical theatre, lyrical and hip-hop. The top soloist at big competitions, such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, were all awarded to Ashley.
