Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson (born July 10, 1980)[1 is an American actor, singer and philanthropist, as well as an entrepreneur. Simpson signed with Columbia Records at the age of 17 after having been in church choirs when she was just a baby. Simpson's earlier career was marked by her wedding to Nick Lachey. She has also appeared on the reality TV show on MTV called Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica in 2003 and 2005. Simpson's first Christmas album ReJoyce was released in 2004 and was certified gold. She made her debut on film in The Dukes of Hazzard (2005) as Daisy Duke. She also composed a cover of "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" for the soundtrack to the film. In 2006, she released her fifth studio album A Public Affair. She also appeared in the romantic comedy film The Employee of the Month. With the release her sixth studio album Do You Know (2008), Simpson moved into the genre of country music. Aside from her musical pursuits, Simpson launched The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005, a fashion-oriented line that has 34 categories of merchandise. Since its launch, the brand has generated over $1 billion in sales and is the biggest-selling licensed brand for celebrities in history. Simpson was also a participant on The Price of Beauty, the reality TV show that aired in 2010. She also judged the clothing designs for Fashion Star 2 and 3. Simpson is married to Eric Johnson, with whom she has three kids.
